15th August 2022 – 21:00, Anfield, Liverpool
Liverpool and Crystal Palace will close the action in the Premier League 2nd round on Monday evening. The hosts seek the first victory in the campaign, while the away side doesn’t want to surrender and will search for a surprise.
Liverpool Preview & Team News
Last year Liverpool had a particularly frustrating season. If the Mersey club won the FA Cup, it was, however, edged out by two small points at the top of the Premier League in its duel with Manchester City and therefore had to settle for 2nd place despite its 91 points. In the Champions League, the Reds also touched the final victory, but Real Madrid beat them in the final despite having largely dominated the match 1-0. They were not successful in the opening round as well since they picked up just a point against Fulham. Thiago (Hamstring Injury) and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (Hamstring Injury) are unavailable for Liverpool coach Jürgen Klopp.
Crystal Palace Preview & Team News
For its part, Crystal Palace does not play in the same court as its host of the day. Far from being able to touch the heights in the Premier League, the London club is regularly forced to stay in the second half of the table as it did last year by taking 12th place with 48 units on the clock. This year again, the players of Patrick Vieira, who is entering his second season as coach of this team, should not be able to have big ambitions. However, they will need to do much better than in the opening 2:0 defeat against Arsenal at home. From a largely full-strength group, there is only the lone fitness problem for the Crystal Palace coach Patrick Vieira to be concerned with. Nathan Ferguson (Achilles tendon problems) won’t be in action.
Full-Time Winner Odds & Prediction
Liverpool is a firm favorite in this clash, and we don’t think they will repeat the same mistake as one week ago. Therefore, the Reds should celebrate a convincing victory by at least two goals.
Goals Market Prediction
The home side managed to keep the clean sheet in four of their last five league clashes at Anfield, and we should see a similar scenario. That’s why we think Liverpool will keep its net intact on Monday evening.
