10th October 2020 – 01:30, Estadio Metropolitano Roberto Melendez, Barranquilla
Colombia is going to host Venezuela in the opening round of the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers – CONMEBOL. Both sides are searching for a good start and some points from this clash.
Match Preview & Team News
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the hosts haven’t played a single match in 2020. They wrapped up 2019 with two narrow wins against Peru and Ecuador in friendly games. Colombia is one of the best South American national teams, and they want to secure one of the top four spots that bring a direct ticket to the final tournament in Qatar. Although Carlos Queiroz’s side hasn’t been too efficient lately, and they scored more than once in the last nine games, against Brazil, their defensive work is excellent. It is tough to crack the Colombian backline, and the hosts managed to keep the clean sheet four times in the past five occasions. James Rodrigues is in excellent form, and he should be the primary threat to the visitors’ defense.
Venezuela hasn’t played an official match in 2020, the same as their opponents, and they successfully ended 2019 as well. The visitors are in a three-win streak, as they managed to beat Bolivia, Trinidad & Tobago, and Japan. In those three clashes, Salomon Rondon and the lads were very efficient and scored a total of ten goals. Venezuela is the only South American national team that never managed to qualify for the FIFA World Cup. Although they are not among the hottest favorites for snatching one of the top five spots, the away side might be able to surprise anybody, especially when playing at home. However, this is going to be a tough challenge for them, and if they manage to remain undefeated, it will be considered a great success.
Full-Time Winner Odds & Prediction
Colombia is a firm favorite in this clash, and we believe the hosts will meet the expectations. The home side should win all three points from this game.
Goals Market Prediction
Although the visitors have been very productive lately, now they are facing a much more serious opponent. Their previous head to head clashes have not been so efficient, and we don’t expect to see more than two goals in total.
